Item Description

A shapely, well-formed and preserved ammonite fossil from Wiltshire, England. The lustrous coiled specimen is wonderfully preserved, with no crushing or distortion. Locally these are aptly called "cannonballs". Complete all-around and pristine. The species is CADOCERAS SUBLAEVE of Middle Juassic Callovian in age (about 165 MYA). A very fine example from the Dr. Barratt Phillips Collection. Cirencester is north of Wiltshire, in Gloucestershire.
