Item Description

Rare, old-time and highly unusual looking fluorite from this famous Swiss Massif. The sharp, lustrous, translucent, pink elongated octahedral thumbnail crystal has strange coated faces. Fluorite is rare from the Central St Gotthard Massif and this is a highly modified crystal. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 12414 and acquired from Scott Williams. Ex Jean Hamel and comes with an old French label. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). The piece is most likely from the Central St Gotthard Massif in Ticino, not Uri as listed on Kay's label. A rare, old, perhaps unique style fluorite crystal from this locale.
