Item Description

An EXTREMELY RARE, perhaps unique California pseudomorph from the Coastal Range. Two, sharp, lustrous, striated pyrite cubes, to 1.7 cm, have been replaced by limonite and are aesthetically set in the matrix wedge. These are complete pseudos, as the lightly bruised corners show these are solid limonite. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 12414 and acquired from Rexford L. Kent Jr. Collection. Probably older material, but no proof. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). Exotic and rare pseudomorph from this locale. A MUST for the pseudomorph, locality or species collector!
