Item Description

A very aesthetic, sculptural and uncommon large quartz and hematite combination from this famous Swiss massif. Chlorite-coated, classic hematite "iron roses" are aesthetically clustered on one side of a dramatic 8.3 cm, water-clear, pristine, sharply terminated quartz crystal. All of interestingly offset termination faces are dusted with chlorite, with most of the prism faces being stunningly glass-clear. The stepped-growth on the lustrous prism faces adds real pizzazz. The attached quartz point and granite matrix with chlorite-coated adularia crystals to 1.8 cm and another quartz point add flair to this exceptional matrix specimen. The piece has a fine provenance, having been in the William Werner Rothmayr Collection with a 1964 date on his label, The Natural History Museum of Bern and the Ted Bartels Collection. Value of such a fine older large and uncommon Swiss combination with great architecture? We believe $1500-1750 is fair.
