Item Description

A beautiful plate of gemmy, soft silvery color, thin bladed hexagonal crystals of Brucite on Chromite matrix from the famous Wood's Chrome Mine in Pennsylvania. The largest crystal measures 1.0 cm at its longest dimension. This material is some of the finest Brucite from the Western Hemisphere. Hard to find on the market now. Beautiful fluorescence under SW UV light. The piece comes from an old East Coast collection with an historic label from the legendary mineral dealer, Hugh A. Ford. Since the label has Ford's New York address it dates to 1946-1957.
