Item Description

A classic Swiss Smoky Quartz specimen from the famous Goscheneralp featuring sharp, GEM quality crystals measuring up to 1.5 cm sitting on white Adularia matrix. Alpine Quartz specimens are among the finest quality Quartzes in the world, and many people would say that the best Quartz crystals from Switzerland are the best from the Alps. This is a good overall piece, better than just a reference specimen, and a worthwhile pickup for anybody who collects Quartz, Alpine minerals, gem crystals or well-formed crystals. This piece comes from the collection of Willard W. Wulff (1904-1998) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a prominent figure and collector of Colorado minerals. Wulff was one of the founding members of the Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society in 1936. You can read Willard's bio on the Mineralogical Record website here ( http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1528 ). The piece comes mounted in a "Perky" box with a hand-written label on the base from Wulff.
