Item Description

A very rarely seen example of the old classic Rhodolite Garnets from Masons Branch, North Carolina. There are many localities for Rhodolite in North Carolina, but it's very difficult to find specimens from this particular locality. This piece features beautiful purplish-red colored crystal sections of Rhodolite measuring up to 4 mm in Quartz matrix. This locality has been documented as far back as the 1930s in American Mineralogist. If you collect US minerals or worldwide Garnets, don't miss out on this one. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#1185). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
