Item Description

An impressive 4.8 cm euhedral bustamite crystals dominates this imposing large bustamite and galena combination from renowned Broken Hill. Part of the large crystal has typical stubby rounded races and all of the many bustamite sections have high waxy luster, translucence and beautiful variable shades of reddish-pink. The bustamite glows, when back lit. Bustamite is a signature species from famed Broken Hill along with rhodonite, spessartine, cerussite, smithsonite, chlorargyrite, pyromorphite and other species. It is one of the primary Mn-bearing silicate ores at Broken Hill. Yes, there is damage on both sides, but this remains a significant large combination. Specimens of this remarkable size, richness and quality are uncommon and are desirable. A classic large older combination from an East Coast collection.
