Item Description

A 7.08 carat matt-brown, modified carbonado diamond octahedron from aptly named Diamantina. Carbonado is a massive, opaque, gray, brown, or black variety of diamond used as an abrasive and in rock drill bits. Specimens are rarely available from any locality and from Brazil since they are mined industrially and turned into powder. The value is in industrial purposes. Rare old diamond from the Sorbonne Museum in Paris and from the David Burgess Collection, for whom Burgessite is named.
