Item Description

Dramatic opposing sprays of silky luster, tan pectolite lathes form a sculptural and rich combination from this historic and exctinct old diabase-basalt quarry, where collecting is now prohibited. The adjacent blocky calcite cleavages are a typical accessory to this very showy piece. Pectolite is a member of the Wollastonite Group and is the calcium analogue of Serandite. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 2021 and acquired from the Lindemann Collection in August, 1961. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). This is an excellent, uncommon and rich combination from the locale.
