Item Description

Gem golden-yellow, included dark yellow and jet-black sphalerite crystals scattered on the mounded matrix with pastel-pink, slightly curved rhodochrosite rhombs form a rich, very showy and uncommon combination small cabinet from the Santa Rita Mine. The superb gem yellow sphalerite on the edge is 8 mm. The W.S. Logan label # X137-3 says the Julcani Mine. MINDAT does not list rhodochrosite for the Julcani District. The association of gemmy yellow sphalerites with curved rhodo rhombs strongly suggests the Santa Rita Mine of the Morococha District. A very fine and showy combination example of the species.
