Ferroan Variscite (rare)

This rich, rare and showy iron rich (ferrian) variscite specimen from the Boa Vista pegmatite of Minas Gerais features sparkly, raspberry-red variscite microcrystals richly scattered on all sides of the very starkly contrasting snow-white and dark matrix. Variscite is rare in pegmatite deposits. It is usually found deposited from phosphatic waters reacting with aluminous rocks at surface or near-surface conditions (low temperature). Some of the best examples come from this pegmatite. Gorgeous! Valued at $500-750.
