Item Description

These Tourmalines are difficult to find on the market, but when you get them, it's really a treat. Typically these Tourmalines are best known as specimens and don't often form in crystals that are gemmy enough to produce very large stones. This gem is a very good quailty, lively pink color "Oval" cut gem from the famous Stewart Mine. The stone is virtually eye clean, which is remarkable for a Tourmaline, as the material is a classified as a Type-3 gem, which means that inclusions are almost always present and are generally accepted by collectors and dealers alike. When it comes to bicolor Tourmalines, most people think of Brazil as the source for the material, but good stones from the Stewart Mine like this are even more sought after by collectors. This particular gem is from the collection of well known mineral dealer Richard Kosnar, who obtained it from Bill Larson in the early 1980s. If you collect U.S. gems, or if you just love Tourmaline like so many people out there, do not miss out on this one, as it's the only one we have to offer from this mine.
