Ruby from Myanmar (Burma) is one of the most storied gems in the world. Some of the finest Rubies in the world are found in the Mogok region of Myanmar. This gem has an attractive pinkish red color, and is certainly gem quality in clarity, despite some inclusions. It has a traditional "Round Step" cut. These are absolutely some of the most popular Rubies in the world. It should be noted that this stone is most likely glass-filled, which is a technique used to improve the clarity of Rubies, and is an acceptable practice so long as the buyer is aware that they are buing a glass-filled stone. PLEASE NOTE: The embargo implemented by the United States government states that there will NOT be ANY of these Rubies imported to U.S. soil after September 30, 2008. The embargo appears to now be over, but now it is still very difficult to find this material on market as it now distributed to Asian marketplaces. For many years, one could only purchase gems in this country that were imported prior to the embargo. Buy this gem now because they seem to be disappearing from the market rapidly.
