Item Description

Amber is one of the "organic" gemstones out there in the same category as Coral and Pearls. Amber has been used since the stone age, from 13,000 years ago. Gem grade Amber is certainly popular in the jewelry trade, but it's not often considered to be a huge collectors gem. Over the last few decades, the popularity of Amber has increased, and certainly any items with interesting inclusions are highly sought after. This is beautiful "Oval Cabochon" cut gemstone of natural untreated Amber from the Dominican Republic featuring a very well-preserved winged insect completely frozen inside. This material is always popular on the market, and even though its more of a fossil than anything I suppose, but it's still a cool piece of this well known material.
