Item Description

This material is a genuine species, not a variety like Sapphire. It is distinguished from Sapphire due to the fact that it is monoclinic, not hexagonal like Corundum, and it is a silicate, not an oxide. Its name is derived from its similarity to the color of Sapphire. Typically, Sapphirine is NOT gem quality, it is almost always opaque, and faceted gems are rare. This "Modified Step Round" cut stone is very slightly included and has a saturated blue color which is not typical for the material, as many of them will have a grey overtone. This is one of the few Sapphirine gems that I have offered in the auctions, so don't miss out on this opportunity to snag a fantastic quality rare gem for your collection.
