Item Description

Superb small cab of Baryte and Pyrite from the Zobes Uranium Deposit in Germany. The plate of tabular Barytes up to 1 cm would be a good specimen in and of itself, but to have that outstanding, 2.1 cm Baryte rising straight up out of the matrix like some sort of architectural wonder brings this piece to a whole new level. The Barytes are glassy, translucent, and they have a rich, deep, honey brown color. The draping of the glittering, drusy Pyrite crystals along the major crystals creates a fabulous aesthetic, making this certainly one of the best German Barytes I have seen. #2641 in Kay's collection, she acquired this from Lindemann in 1962, right at the end of the Uranium extraction at Kobes. For what it is, this is a killer.
