Item Description

Calcite with Copper from 'copper country' in Michigan is one of those classics that is always heavily competed for, and with good reason. This particular miniature is an excellent cluster of well-formed Calcite scalenohedrons intergrown with Copper, with the largest Calcite being 2.6 cm. These Calcites are gemmy, with silky, slightly etched faces. With just the right light, you can see bright internal reflections that show off just how gemmy the Calcite crystals really are, and the internal Copper inclusions simply glow with that bright, coppery color that is so eye-catching. This old-timer had a small amount of edgewear, but it is minimal and certainly doesn't detract from the great aesthetics of this cluster. Originally in the private collection of Scott Williams, Kay acquired this over a half-century ago, and it was #490 in her collection. valued $1000-1250
