Item Description

A classic specimen of the famous Alexandrites from Carnaiba featuring "sixling" (more accurately a "trilling") and "V"-shaped twins with a deep green color when strongly lit which are sitting on typical schist matrix. The "arms" are well-developed on the twins, and the multiple habits make for interesting viewing up close. The largest Alexandrite measures 2.5 cm across. The piece only shows a very slight color change, from a blue-green to a purple-blue hue, but the change is there nonetheless. These are classics from Brazil, and hard to find on the market these days. Valued at $950. From the collection of Rolando Gioia (a contributor to new definitive book on Brazilian minerals: "Minerais e Pedras Preciosas do Brasil").
