Item Description

The discovery of these highly-etched but completely-terminated, Spessartine Garnets created quite a splash several years ago, and you can see why. The sculptural aesthetics, luster and gemmines are excellent even for the smaller size. The strong orange-red color with the notably distinct dodecahedral crystal lines/faces really make the Garnet "pop" as it sits wonderfully on a gemmy, doubly-terminated crystal of Quartz. This is an excellent example of this recent find and a showy thumbnail to boot. The vast majority of the Spessartines from this discovery are found as loose single "floaters" and rarely are they associated with Quartz like this. From the collection of Rolando Gioia (a contributor to new definitive book on Brazilian minerals: "Minerais e Pedras Preciosas do Brasil").
