Titanite (twin) on Epidote

A 3.8 cm, sharp, well-formed twin of Titanite with a brilliant yellow-green color when backlit flares off the underlying dark green Epidote matrix to create a showy and eye-catching display specimen from Capelinha. The Titanite has a bit of a strange tan colored coating, but the faces are still very lustrous and smooth. I don't see any actual damge to the Titanite crystal, as the stepped termination is completely crystallized. There is a section of the crystal that is completely WATER-CLEAR and would actually yield a nice gemstone. It's hard to find isolated gemmy green twins of Titanite on matrix from any locality in the world, including Capelinha. A great overall specimen of this classic material from this metamorphic deposit in Brazil. Valued at $1200-$1500.
