Item Description

An attractive small cabinet display specimen of the famous Harmotomes from the Strontian. This locality has produced some exellent examples of this obscure Zeolite species. The crystals on this specimen are notably sharp and lustrous with perfect monoclinic form. The largest crystal measures 1.1 m at its longest dimension. Valued at $950. This one is a real beauty for Harmotome with very little damage and excellent displayability. From the worldwide collection of famed Italian mineral collector, field collector and author, Francesco Bedogne of Sondrio, Italy (Collection #479). Bedogne wrote dozens of articles and several books about the mineralogy of Italian Alpine localities such as Val Bregaglia, Val Masino, Val Codera, Val Spluga, Valtellina and the famous Val Malenco. He was also the founder of the Valtellinese Mineralogical Institute.
