Item Description

Few specimens are available from the Furtei Gold Mine in Sardinia, and Luzonites are incredibly desirable for collectors. This rare copper arsenic sulfide is probably best known from the Chinkuashih Mine in Taiwan, and I have never seen any specimens from Italy aside from this one. If you collect rarities, especially European rarities, don't miss out on this little beauty. It features sparkling micro crystals of silvery-golden Luzonite on host rock matirx. We photographed the piece with a macro lens to better illustrate the quality up close. From the worldwide collection of famed Italian mineral collector, field collector and author, Francesco Bedogne of Sondrio, Italy (Collection #). Bedogne wrote dozens of articles and several books about the mineralogy of Italian Alpine localities such as Val Bregaglia, Val Masino, Val Codera, Val Spluga, Valtellina and the famous Val Malenco. He was also the founder of the Valtellinese Mineralogical Institute.
