A classic, hard to find "Cushion Brilliant" cut yellow color gem from the locality at Cerro de Mercado. These stones are not nearly as common on the market as they were about 25 years ago, and are certainly some of the most distinctive Apatites from any locality in the world. Typically the crystals that yield these stones have "tube"-like inclusions and just don't allow for clean stones above 0.50 carats, but this one is 2.00 carats on the nose! It would make a worthwhile addition to a worldwide gem collection, a collection of Mexican stones, or a suite of Apatites. Overall, a very good quality example of this renowned Mexican material.
