Item Description

Tourmalines are some of the most diverse and popular gems out there. They're one of the few gems that occur in natural bicolor stones as well. A small percentage of the better bicolor Tourmalines on the market today are from Mozambique, and remain as some of the most attractive in the gem world. This particular gem was cut from a piece of rough found nearly 25 years ago in Mozambique. The "Portuguese Oval" cut stone shows a combination of soft green hue with a pink shade on the other side. Face up, the colors combine to creat a pinkish-orange color, which is rare for Tourmaline, as yellow and orange are the most difficult colors to find in my experience. This stone is also virtually eye clean, which is rare as Tourmaline is classified as a "Type 3" gemstone, and inclusions are almost always present, and accepted by dealers and collectors, so when you find a stone like this over 7 carats, it's truly impressive. I have to say that these stones are becoming harder and harder to find these days, and this well-cut, naturally occurring bicolor gem is a super example of a Mozambique Tourmaline. Priced at $1,122.00 retail.
