Ferberite (twins on Quartz) (ex Dr. Miguel Romero Collection)

Item Description

A great large cabinet display specimen featuring fine, sharp, bladed, jet-black crystals of Ferberite (some of which shows contact twins with composition on the {100} face) measuring up to 2.1 cm aesthetically sitting on Quartz matrix with minor golden Pyrite. The piece is in fairly good shape overall, though some crystals are contacted. The Ferberites feature gorgeous narrow parallel striations, not often seen from any locality. A showy piece to be sure with good aesthetics, and VERY HARD to find on the market. These specimens came out circa 1975-1976 and I've only seen a few of them over the years.
