Item Description

For all the Fluorite specimens that have come out of China, this a rather attractive specimen hosting razor sharp, virtually WATER-CLEAR, (almost ice-like) lovely green color, slightly stacked, cubic crystals up to 2.1 cm on edge forming a great large cabinet size display piece. The specimen displays very nicely from several angles, and just looks like a pool of liquid green in your hands. The faces of the crystals have excellent luster as well, and you can actualy see some distinct purple "phantoms" inside of them when backlit. Both sides of the specimen are crystallized, though the front side shows gemmier, more lustrous crystals. There are a few minor bruises, and obviously it's contacted where it was removed from the pocket wall, but I would say it's about 95% crystallized. Lastly, it must be noted that the color of these crystals really stands out under fluorescent lighting as opposed to incandescent lighting, but the piece truly must be seen in person to appreciate it gemminess and elegant beauty. Valued at $2,500. From the collection of the long time, beloved, well-known French field collector, Paul Zerfass (Collection #873). Zerfass built this worldwide collection over nearly 50 years, many of which were personally collected. A biography featuring specimens from his collection (along with his face on the cover) is in the May - June 2017 issue of French mineral magazine, Le Regne Mineral. We have a .pdf copy of the article for anybody interested in reading it (though it's mostly in French). Just drop us a line and know that you'd like to have a copy.
