Item Description

This is a lovely miniature specimen of this historic material from the type locality in Brazil. The piece features sharp, classic, beautiful, gemmy, lustrous, gorgeous yellow green color crystals of Brazilianite. The best specimens from the type locality are still the finest crystals of the species extant. This piece is certainly and older specimen based upon the habit and color, I would say it dates back 40-50 years. Very good quality and the piece is complete on the display side, though cleaved on the back where it was removed from the pocket wall. The faces of both the main crystals and the accompanying secondary crystals on the side are are smooth and lustrous (not etched), and the gemminess is certainly above average. That wonderful yellow-green color is unmistakable, which combined with the distinctive habit of the crystals makes for a fine miniature. It's a good quality specimen, and this decades old material is highly sought after by collectors. Valued at $1,200 based upon the quality, color, size and the fact that it's and older specimen. Specimen weight is 16.38 grams
