Description:The best pieces of Copper from Michigan are world-famous for being the finest crystallized examples of the species extant. Here we have a lovely small cabinet sized display specimen featuring an incredibly sharp, highly lustrous, very well-formed, 1.8 cm dodecahedron of Copper sitting in the center of the piece which is surrounded by branching, crystalline Copper forms along with a bit of Calcite and attached matrix. I LOVE the central crystal on the piece as it's just textbook and non-distorted, which is not common for Copper crystals of this size from any locality. Very attractive for this classic material from Michigan. It should be noted that the piece was cleaned at some point to give it the bright shiny luster, but it doesn't take away from the quality of the main crystal whatsoever. Valued at $1,000 in our inventory. From the worldwide collection of Tom Campbell. Tom is a mineralogist and mineral collect who works with us here at The Arkenstone. He has over 35 years of experience in the fields of exploration geology, mining, and applied mineralogy, and has even more years under his belt as a collector! Tom has described many new species over the years, and discovered the rare phosphates Tiptopite, Fransoletite and Pahasapaite. Tom was also a co-author on the second edition of the Encyclopedia of Minerals. You can see a list of Tom's published works here ( ).
