Item Description

A beautiful old classic Alpine specimen of what was once called "Schwatzite", but it now defined as a mercury-bearing variety of Tetrahedrite. This beautiful and aesthetic miniature specimen features a large (1.6 cm across), sharp, well-formed crystal with a gorgeous patina sitting beautifully on the underlying matrix. The crystal is undamaged on the display side, but if you flip the piece over you can see that it actually carries through the matrix and it's honestly larger underneath, but it's difficult to show this in the photos. If you collect Alpine minerals, sulfides or fine examples of uncommon varieties of species, this is a great opportunity to pick up something that is rarely offered on the market in such fine examples. We had this piece priced at $1,200 in the inventory. The piece comes with a beautiful old hand-written label from Viktor Hoffman dated from September of 1921!
