Item Description

A really attractive and eye-catching large cabinet display specimen of beautiful "Star" Muscovite Mica from the Jenipapo. These specimens are some of the most distinctive and eye-catching pieces of Mica from any locality for their wonderful morphology. This particular piece has a full coverage of lovely golden-yellow color, incredibly well-formed, star shaped twinned crystals of Muscovite on feldspar matrix. Now this piece does have some damage in areas, so it's not 100% pristine, but it's loaded with crystals, and it's still very showy. There are only a select few places in the world where one can obtain a large cabinet display specimen with this rare habit of Muscovite. The largest "star" measures about 2.6 cm across, but it's not easy to isolate them as they are somewhat tightly intergrown. From the worldwide collection of David Burgess (1951-2016). David was a prolific species collector from Newington, Connecticut, and the namesake for the extremely rare cobalt arsenate species Burgessite, which he discovered.
