Item Description

An attractive specimen of Malachite pseudomorphs after Azurite from a discovery in 2008 at Milpillas. Although there were many of these specimens available a few years ago, fine quality, undamaged display specimens are few and far between. This piece features a few very good quality, velvety, forest-green crystals of Malachite that have partially altered from deep midnight blue Azurites. I LOVE the transition on the piece as the upper portion of the Azurites are still un-pseudomorphed with sharp, lustrous, rich blue color that completely changes into solid Malachite at the base. The largest crystal measures 4.1 cm. Very little damage, and great quality for the find. Soon this locality will be done producing the carbonates, and will move to the base metals, meaning that there will be no more Azurites or Malachites available, so get them now while they're reasonable, because they will jump in value once they stop coming out of the ground. Originally priced at $1,000 in our inventory from nearly a decade ago, and certainly worth more today.
