Item Description

The famous locality at Charcas is well-known for producing the finest examples of Danburite in the world, but it has also produced some world class Datolites, certainly the best examples from Mexico. This piece features a plate of fairly blocky, soft yellow-green colored crystals of Datolite measuring up to 2.3 cm which have a sugary / drusy coating of micro Quartz, but the most important aspect is that there are a handful of SCEPTER AMETHYST crystals growing on top of the Datolites! I've never seen this combo before, and when you have a showy and highly displayable piece like this, it's all the more desirable. The largest Amethyst scepter measures 1.7 cm long. It should be noted that several of the Amethysts are contacted on their terminations, so they are not damage free, hence the auction listing, but it's still a remarkable and eye-catching combo that would make a superb addition to any Mexican collection or an association mineral suite. Valued at $850 in the inventory.
