Item Description

From the lesser known Moanda Mine in Gabon, here we have an old time Rhodochrosite specimen dating back to the 1970s-1980s. Beautiful, sharp, lustrous, gemmy, reddish-pink scalenohedra measuring up to about 4 mm are sprinkled all over the display side of the underlying manganese bearing matrix. The crystals somewhat remind me of similar examples from the Santa Eulalia Mine in Mexico. Good quality and very attractive up close. From the worldwide Rhodochrosite collection of Dr. William S. Logan (Specimen #X53-5) with a few labels from previous dealers. Valued at $800 retail.
