Item Description

The world famous Jeffrey Mine is well-known for its superb Vesuvianites, which are found in a wide variety of colors ranging from green to red with various hues in between. The rarely seen manganese-bearing (Manganoan) Vesuvianites from the Jeffrey Mine have what might be the most alluring color for the species. This piece features an almost "jackstraw" like intergrown group of thin, prismatic, lustrous crystals of Vesuvianite measuring up to 1.2 cm long with very minor attached matrix. The color ranges from a fiery red hue at the terminations to an intense glowing purple color in the center of each prism. You can see the color come through with good backlighting, and the piece really needs to be viewed in person to completely appreciate its quality and incredibly rare color. How often does one see RED Vesuvianite!? A wonderful specimen for any collector of Jeffrey minerals. This locality is completely closed down and will never produce these amazing specimens again, so don't miss out on this gorgeous full-sized thumbnail with this amazingly rare color combination. Valued at $1,200.
