Item Description

Here we have a classic old time Aquamarine from Medina. This piece is a very attractive, GEM quality, beautiful bluish-green color, prismatic, etched crystal of Aquamarine free of matrix. The crystal is virtually 100% water clear and looks gorgeous when backlit. I really love the fact that the color is quite saturated despite the fact that it's only 1 cm thick! The piece was mined in 1974, and comes from the collection of Richard Kosnar (the namesake for the species Kosnarite), who had a strong presence in Brazil bringing back a large quantity of pegmatite minerals in the 1970s. This beautiful miniature specimen would make a great addition to any gem crystal suite, or a collection of Brazilian minerals, especially since gem Aquas from Brazil are truly difficult to find on the market these days. Originally priced at $900 in the inventory.
