Item Description

There are only three places in the world where fine quality crystallized Kunzite is found with any frequency: San Diego County, California; Minas Gerais, Brazil and Nuristan / Kunar, Afghanistan. Years ago there were a lot more specimens from California and Brazil in the market, but most of the good Kunzites we see today are from Afghanistan. This piece is an excellent GEM quality, doubly-terminated (multi-terminated) "floater" crystal with a gorgeous lilac-pink hue. The crystal has excellent luster all around (no "dusty" faces) and the graceful hydrothermal etching give it an almost ethereal appearance. I can't find any damage, and it's virtually WATER CLEAR throughout. The piece even shows an attractive fluorescence under UV light. A fantastic example of this beloved gem crystal material from Afghanistan. Valued at $1,200 in the inventory. Specimen weight is 65.50 grams.
