Item Description

Here we have a very showy and three-dimensional small cabinet specimen of these well-known deep green Apatites from the famous find at the Sapo mine in 2004. These crystals have a lovely appearance with somewhat compressed hexagonal prismatic form and deep greenish-black color, but is nearly colorless on the outermost edges. The luster of the Apatites is BETTER in person as it nearly looks "wet" to the naked eye. The largest Apatite measures 3.2 x 2.8 cm. A matrix of cream colored crystallized Albite is a welcomed sight, and not many pieces has such attractive crystals on good matrix like this. There are a few minor nicks to the Apatites, hence the auction listing. If the piece were absolutely perfect I could see it valued at $2,500-$3,000, but because of the slight imperfections, we have it valued at $900 in the inventory. It appears that Sapo may never produce these incredible specimens of these unusual Apatites again.
