Item Description

An exceptional near full cabinet sized display specimen of the very rare hydrated borate species Hilgardite featuring a fantastic central vug with multiple relatively HUGE crystals measuring up to 4.5 mm, and many only slightly smaller! The most important aspect of the piece is the fact that it features actual CRYSTALS of Hilgardite and not the non-descript typical little "blebs" on pale Boracite that you normally see for this species. This specimen is half of a sphere in form and the crystals line the center of a solid geode of Hilgardite which must have filled in the original cavity. This is one of the richest specimens I have seen in nearly 20 years, and I'm told that virtually nothing is available in any market in the US or the UK that compares. Not only is it good for what it is, its just a pretty piece, as well with the classic orange-pink / salmon color! Valued at $1,850 for size, rarity and quality.
