Item Description

Swiss Quartz specimens are world renowned for their superior quality and form. They are standouts in a world filled with Quartz crystals as some of the best examples of the species. This attractive small cabinet specimen features sharp, very lustrous, well-formed, hexagonal, prismatic almost "Morion" colored Smoky Quartz crystals which are nearly colorless at the base. Individual crystals measure up to 4.2 cm long, and are so aesthetically set to create a showy and three-dimensional display specimen. The main crystals are all damage free, though there are a few small contacts closer to the base of the specimen. If you collect worldwide Quartz specimens or minerals of Switzerland, Europe or the Alps don't miss out on this very attractive piece from lesser known locale. Valued at $1,800. From the worldwide collection of famed Italian mineral collector, field collector and author, Francesco Bedogne of Sondrio, Italy (Collection #1185). Bedogne wrote dozens of articles and several books about the mineralogy of Italian Alpine localities such as Val Bregaglia, Val Masino, Val Codera, Val Spluga, Valtellina and the famous Val Malenco. He was also the founder of the Valtellinese Mineralogical Institute. The piece comes with a label from Nimineral as well.
