Item Description

A large, thick, doubly-terminated, gemmy crystal group of Spodumene / Kunzite from Afghanistan. Now the terminations are not textbook per se, but they are definitely crystallized, most likely the piece detached from the pocket wall during formation and ended up healing ("re-healing") itself while it finished growing. I will point out that one end of the crystals is partially contacted, but is still crystallized in areas. With that said, it's nearly complete all the way around and even hosts a small Smoky Quartz crystal near one end for dramatic effect. A bit of bladed Albite can be seen as well. The crystals have a medium purplish and greenish-yellow color when viewed on the "a" axis, but When viewed down the "c" axis, one can see that this is a "striped" or color zoned crystal group. There is a purple hue on each side, along with a greenish-yellow hue in the center. The luster is very good with elongated glassy faces and slightly etched faces on either side, so it's a beautiful blending of the two forms. Good crystallized Spodumenes / Kunzites are only found in a few places on earth and Afghanistan is only place that produces them with any frequency these days. Weight is 549 grams. Priced at $1,850 in the inventory.
