Item Description

Guerrero is famous for Amethysts that are striking not only for their color zoning but, when you are lucky enough to find one, their extraordinary clusters. The crystals here are classic for Guerrero Amethyst, with colorless, gem tips grown over sharp purple phantoms. The contrast is striking, unusual, and nearly unique to this location (it happens at Brandberg, too). This particular piece is a glorious V-shaped spray with multiple crystals ranging up to 6 cm, growing in two distinct directions. There is a minor amount of edgewear on a few of the tips, but is is hardly visible and trivial to the eye. Unlike the Veracruz amethyst where the color tends towards more lavender hues, the Guerrero Amethyst is a deeper, more intense purple. Great aesthetics for color and form, material like this hasn 't been dug up in decades. This is a rare, aesthetic speicmen of the most classic style, from the 1960s-1970s. Valued $2500-3500
