Item Description

Choice specimen of the rare copper silicate, Shattuckite. This significant plate is composed of a solid, 1 cm thick crust of radiating, baby blue Shattuckites that terminate in one surface being completely covered with velvety, darker blue spheres. Up close, you can really appreciate how well the 1-1.5 mm spheres formed, and how truly distinct they are. This material was fresh out of the ground from Tantara in 2014, and finding a plate this large at a low price is unusual, since the pocket is long since gone and dispersed. The location and composition were confirmed by X-ray diffraction, and there may even be traces of Plancheite and possibly Ajoite.
