Item Description

The Iglesias area of Italy is famous for its gloriously rich, yellow Smithsonite. On occasion, you can find psuedomorphs from here of Smithsonite after Calcite, but rarely do you find a pseudo of this quality. The Calcites in the pocket of this small cab have been completely replaced by Smithsonite, with the surfaces being a rich lemon-yellow. The form of the Calcites are as well-preserved as you could ask for, and the largest is 3 cm. This is a superb pseudomorph, high quality and quite aesthetic. Valued $2500, and from the famous and important, Dr. Francesco Bedogne Collection (book available, and will be given to the winner). This is a spectacular piece in person, and among the rarest of old Italian classics.
