Vanadinite (2008 pocket)

This is really quite an attractive small cab from Mibladen, which has been the premier locality for Vanadinites over the years. The crystals are sharp and extremely well-formed, with superb, glassy prism faces that contrast nicely with the silky terminations. The orange-red color is uniform and rich, and the crystals have enough gemminess to them that there is plenty of orange-red fire to be seen. As with much of this pocket (2008), the reverse side is covered by an oriented, secondary growth of powdery, tan Vanadinite. Preferential effects such as this add so much visually, and are of mineralogical interest, as well. Excellent aesthetics. Former dealer label for $3000, and this is indeed a very fine small cabinet piece. While a lot came out, few had such perfection, and the price on this is especially attractive now, a decade later!
