Description:Certainly, the Chalcocites from the Flambeau Mine are among the most recognizable and highly sought after examples of the species extant. Their characteristic form and eye-catching "peacock"-like iridescence make them amazingly eye-catching and valuable. These have gone down in recent years as classics, now nearly completely absent from the market. This lovely small cabinet sized specimen is a fine quality group of sharp, well-formed, stacked / layered, pseudo-hexagonal (monoclinic) blades of Chalcocite with a patina or "sheen" on the surface showing flashes of metallic purple, blue and pink. The entire specimen is virtually undamaged, and displays wonderfully as you can see from the photos. Great quality overall, and fun to view from either side. This piece comes with an old Arkenstone label from the days in La Jolla (15+ years ago) with a price tag of $1,750, so certanly it's worth more today.
