Item Description

A gorgeous display specimen of Fluorite from the famous Denton Mine. The piece is features large, very sharp, lustrous, gemmy, mulitcolor (dark purple with rich golden color internally) "phantom" cubic crystals of Fluorite measuring up to 5.3 cm which are studded by small metallic golden Chalcopyrite crystals. The piece comes from the collection of Ross Lillie (# RCL0163), and his label states that it was mined by Lillie himself in November of 1983 in the "Lillie Pod", which was found in advance mining early in the development of the orebody. It's certainly a great quality overall piece from this famous locality in southern Illinois. No real damage that I can see on the display side with the naked eye, save one tiny contact. A great piece to add to your collection, especially if you collect Fluorites, Southern Illinois specimens, or pieces with fine crystals. Valued originally at $1,800, and now I think more in today's market.
