Item Description

Large, robust, fine quality, sharp, well-formed, rich midnight blue (electric blue when backlit) colored blades of Azurite are partially pseudomorphing to Malachite on this fine quality and eye-catching display specimen from the now famous Mipillas Mine. This locality is well-known for producing some of the finest quality Azurite specimens in the world, ranking up there with places like Bisbee, Touissit and Tsumeb in terms of quality. This particular specimen features a style that was seen near the end of the mining of the oxidized zone at Milpillas with these brilliant gorgeous stout Azurite crystals in the process of altering to Malachite. The contrast between the incredibly lustrous and razor-sharp Azurite crystals with the velvety deep green Malachite makes for a very appealing specimen. There are a few minor nicks here and there, but overall the piece is fine shape. Hard to photograph and better in person! If you have been wanting one of these spectacular pieces from Milpillas, don't miss out on getting a good one like this for a great price. We're told that the oxidized zone at Milpillas is finished and will most likely never produce these specimens again, so the value of good specimens will only increase as the years go by.
