Item Description

An impressive, GEM quality example of this classic material. The large cabinet Fluorite crystal group is in great shape on the display side showing superb cubic form with slight dodecahedral modifications on the edges which have a slightly stepped growth in areas. The largest cube measures up to 2.8 cm on edge. The piece is in fantastic shape with only a few small imperfections in areas, which is more than forgivable considering the size. The larger crystals show slight phantoms and nearly every single cube is WATER CLEAR with a GORGEOUS BLUE COLOR that looks best in sunlight. The color is a bit more subdued in indoor lighting, but it looks amazing in the sun. There is a selective deposition of an unknown mineral on certain faces of the Fluorite crystals, giving them a matte luster in areas creating a lovely contrast between the shimmering broad cubic faces and the matte secondary modified faces. This is indded a very showy, fine quality and impressive display specimen of this classic and beloved material. These specimens don't get the attention they deserve as they compare very well against equal specimens from southern Illinois. Valued in the inventory at $3,500.
