Item Description

Morganite Beryl is really only found in a few places in the world, especially in good quality matrix specimens. This fantastic large cabinet, hefty display specimen features a wonderful 5.6 cm, well-formed, gemmy / translucent, fine quality, soft pink color Morganite Beryl crystal from the famous locality at Darra-i-Pech (Pech) in Afghanistan beautifully set on blocky white Albite matrix. The Morganite itself is notably sharp, thick and lustrous, and it's hard to find all three qualities in a Morganite crystal from most world localities. Typically, Morganite is not found in sharp, euhedral crystals as they are often dull and / or etched. THIS crystal actually does have a touch of hydrothermal etching on the front-facing pinacoid, creating a really interesting pseudo-geometric pattern, and it's STILL remarkably lustrous and sharp! The crystal is essentially 100% complete, and shows the classic tablar, hexagonal form, for which Morganite is best known. I love how the Morganite is beautifully centered on the specimen like a spotlight or a beacon, just glowing and grabbing your attention. A dramatic and impressive large cabiet sized display specimen of this well-known material, and a great piece to add to a pegmatite collection, a Beryl collection or a collection of minerals from Afghanistan / Pakistan. Valued in our inventory at $5,500 for incredible size, excellent form / balance, and displayability.
